Using 3.25 mm needles and B, cast on 75(79;83;87, 91,95) sts

1st row:  rsf, k1, (p1, k1) to end. 

2nd row: P1, (k1, p1) to end.

 Rep these 2 rows once more.

 Join C and rep these 2 rows twice.

 Break C and rep these 2 rows using B. 

Change to 4 mm needles and A and cont as folls: 1st row: RSF, k2(4;3;2;2;5)sts, m1, (k5, m1) 14(14;15;16;17;17)times,k3(5;5;5;4;5)sts = 90(94;99;104;109;113)sts. 

Beg with a p row, st st 3 rows. 

5th row: K2(4;3;2;2;5)sts, m1, (k6, m1) 14(14;15;16;17;17) times, k4(6;6;6;5;6)sts = 105(109;115;121;127;131)sts. 

St st 3 rows. 

9th row: K2(4;3;2;2;5)sts, m1, (k7, m1) 14(14;15;16;17;17) times, k5(7;7;7;6;7)sts = 120(124;131;138;145;149)sts. 

St st 3 rows. 

13th row: K2(4;3;2;2;5)sts, m1, (k8, m1) 14(14;15;16;17;17)times,k6(8;8;8;7;8)sts=135   (139;147;155;163;167)sts. 

Cont straight until work measures 10 cm from beg ending with a RSR. 

1ST AND 5TH SIZES ONLY: Next row: P, dec 1 st in centre of row. 

2ND; 3RD AND 6TH SIZES ONLY: Next row: P, inc -(2;1;-;-;2)sts evenly across row. 

4TH SIZE ONLY: Next row: P. ALL SIZES: 134(141;148;155;162;169)sts.

 SHAPE TOP: Next row: K1, (k2tog, k5) 19(20;21;22;23;24) times = 115(121;127;133;139;145)sts. 

St st 3(5;5;5;5;5) rows. 

Next row: K1, (k2tog, k4) 19(20;21;22;23;24) times = 96(101;106;111;116;121)sts. 

St st 3(3;5;5;5;5) rows. 

Next row: K1, (k2tog, k3) 19(20;21;22;23;24) times = 77(81;85;89;93;97)sts. 

St st 3(3;3;5;5;5) rows. 

Next row: K1, (k2tog, k2) 19(20;21;22;23;24) times = 58(61;64;67;70;73)sts. 

St st 3(3;3;3;3;5) rows. 

Next row: K1, (k2tog, k1) 19(20;21;22;23;24) times = 39(41;43;45;47;49)sts. 

St st 1(1;1;1;3;3) rows.

 Next row: K1, (k2tog) 19(20;21;22;23;24) times = 20(21;22;23;24;25)sts. 

Next row: (P2tog) 10(10;11;11;12;12) times, p0(1;0;1;0;1)st = 10(11;11;12;12;13)sts. Cut yarn, thread through rem sts, pull tog and fasten off. Sew back seam. Make a heart and attach to berét if desired

 

HEART: Using 3 mm needles and C, cast on 5sts. 1st row: K. 

2nd row: Inc in first st, k to end = 6sts. 

3rd row: K. 

4th row: K to last st, inc in last st = 7sts. 

5th row: K. 

6th row: Inc in first st, k to end = 8sts. 

7th to 10th row: K. 

Cut yarn and slip to end of needle. 

Using same needle and C, cast on 5sts and rep 1st to 10th row ending with the 2 pieces on the same needle. 

Next row: K across all sts = 16sts. 

K 4 rows. 

Next row: K, dec 1 st at each end = 14sts. 

row: K. 

Rep last 2 rows until 2sts rem, k2tog, fasten off
